Puppet Dolls, Museum and Stories: A Creative Experience for Curious Children

Explore the world of theater and art with multidisciplinary artist Hila Flashkes. A graduate of Vital School, Dasart, and the HaKaron Theater Hothouse, she creates puppet theater for adults and children.

The workshops at the City Museum allow kids to see the city from another angle, create their own puppet dolls and stage short performances.

Workshop duration: two sessions

18.11.24, 25.11.24: Pop-Up Workshop Creating paper booklets.
 Children will learn to design and create pop-up booklets based on stories from the city. They will learn how to make and operate 3D paper figures.

2.12.24, 9.12.24: City in Motion Workshop: Creating dynamic sculptures.
 Participants will explore various types of sculptures found in public spaces in Tel Aviv and around the world, drawing inspiration from the urban environment. Through this hands-on experience, kids will learn how to design and build their own kinetic sculptures that can spin and move.

16.12.24, 23.12.24: Object Theater Workshop
How do traffic lights move? What do postboxes sound like when they talk? Children in the workshop will get a glimpse of the wonderful world of theater created with everyday objects. They will also be able to make figures, operate them, and even stage a short performance.

30.12.24, 6.1.25: Shadow Play Workshop
Create a shadow play based on the museum's different exhibitions. In the workshop, kids will learn about paper cutting and creating shadows. They will go through all the stages of creating a shadow play: choosing a story, designing the figures and set, and operating the play. They will experience the magical possibilities of light and shadows and the wonder created by the interaction of paper and torchlight.

13.1.25, 20.1.25: Cabinet of Curiosities Workshop
A workshop for creating miniature buildings and houses from recycled materials inspired by urban architecture. Kids will explore various design methods to craft unique structures, blending reality with imagination.
