The Annual Exhibition 2025-2026 at the Tel Aviv-Yafo City Museum | Curator: Yael Messer
How is our relationship with the city we live in shaped? And what actions—minor or major—affect the interaction between the city's residents and the place they call home?
The exhibition "City Level" presents nineteen new works by artists based in Tel Aviv-Yafo. It examines the relationship between the city and its residents through mundane, symbolic, or imaginary actions, along with questions about belonging, action, and change.
The exhibition is part of the museum's rotating exhibition program, which annually invites local artists to propose works specifically developed around a contemporary theme.
Just as "sea level" refers to the meeting line between land and sea, "At City Level" examines the intersection between the city and its residents.
What are the conditions of this encounter? And how does a city look from a civic perspective?
The works in the exhibition are displayed throughout the museum—on the upper floors, in various spaces, and in the courtyard—and include photography, video, sculpture, installations, collages, sound works, and performance.
A "Research Salon" will be presented alongside them: a documentary space that includes case studies from social and cultural activities in the city over the years.
