Tales in Silhouette: Shadow Puppetry Workshop for Kids

Discover the enchantment of shadow theater at the Tel Aviv-Yafo City Museum! Join a captivating workshop that merges the city's story collection with the art of theater to create a unique performance

Children of the city are invited to join and become the creators, narrators of their own, and the city's story. Under the guidance of multidisciplinary artist Hila Fleshkis, workshop participants will learn how to blend light and dark to craft stunning characters that bring the city of Tel Aviv-Yafo to life in an original and innovative way.

During six sessions at the museum, we will explore and practice character design, plot construction, and shadow theater operation. The workshop integrates elements from architecture, city characters, and works by Tel Aviv poets and writers, making each performance a personal and unique journey that connects the children to the place where they are growing up and their story within it.

Throughout the workshop, we will roam the museum and work with the city's story collection to create the performance. In the final session, the show will be staged on the museum's windows, allowing viewers to see how local stories and fictional characters merge into a single creation that embodies the spirit of the city.
