OK Protest - Open Call
Open call for a video work - A screening at the new Tel Aviv-Yafo City Museum in Bialik Square
The City Museum treasures the memories and dreams of the city’s residents, lovers, planners, and creators. New stories are added to the museum collection daily and presented in interactive stations. Temporary annual exhibitions focus on current issues, while the permanent exhibition explores the city’s evolution and vibe from the early days of modern Jaffa to our time. Tel Aviv-Yafo has always been a hub for varied demonstrations, even in its very early days before the establishment of the state. The city enables a liberal, pluralistic arena for critical thinking and solidarity.
A significant part of the permanent exhibition is dedicated to civil society and its power to influence, its ability to express diverse voices, build communities, and promote values of freedom, tolerance, adaptability and innovation, which are essential for a strong society.
The exhibition showcases the different protests throughout the city’s history that addressed various issues, including the right to employment, housing, climate and the environment. They have also protested racism, discrimination, exclusion, and violence, touching on topics such as nationality, language, and identity, as well as war and peace.
Within this historical perspective, we seek to give voice to the present and the current burning issues.
The selected work will be displayed for four months.
