OK Protest - Call for Submissions

The streets and squares of Tel Aviv-Yafo are a living, bustling space for gathering and leisure, no less than they are an arena for debate, organizing, and protest. Recent years have reminded us how far from self-evident public space is, and how much power civil society holds when it acts within it. There are times when these voices flood the city, and times when they converge on other focal points, altering their rhythm and form. Even then, they continue to mark the tensions, hopes, and shifts that shape life in the city.
The permanent exhibition at the City Museum devotes a section to civil society and its power to effect change. Alongside documentation of struggles over housing and livelihoods, the environment and climate, and democracy, equality, and justice, it also presents protests against racism, discrimination, and exclusion, as well as struggles over identity, war, and peace.

The OK Protest project sets out to place the voice of the present alongside the historical view, and to examine how protest continues to shape the city, its residents, and the possibilities for a shared civic life.

Eligible submissions:
Video art on the theme of a contemporary struggle or protest.
Participation details:
• The selected work will be shown at the City Museum for four months.
• An artist's fee will be paid in accordance with the Artists' Union rate.
A submission must include:
• A link to view the work
• Three frames from the video in JPG format
• A PDF containing: a description of the work, a CV, and a portfolio

Submission deadline: 31 October 2026
Notification of acceptance by: 30 November 2026
